Taghazout surf camp: a small hostel with a coach downstairs, rooms a walk from Anchor Point

SurfsHUB Taghazout is a small surf hostel in the village itself, five minutes on foot from Panorama, ten from Hash Point, and six minutes in the van or twenty-five on foot from Anchor Point. Rooms are private or shared, coaching happens every morning, and dinner is on the roof.

A fishing village that became the surf capital of Morocco, and still fishes

Taghazout is about 24 km north of Agadir on the coast road. Blue boats are pulled up on the slipway every morning, the cafés above them fill with surfers checking the point, and the surf shops open when the tide says so. It is the busiest of the villages on this coast, which is the point of staying here: everything is on foot, and there is always someone to surf with.

The waves that made the place famous line up along the headland north of the village. Anchor Point is the long right-hander you have seen in films; Killer Point is longer and heavier; Hash Point and Panorama, in front of the village, are where the rest of us surf when the points are too big.

Our Taghazout surf camp: 21 beds, one kitchen, one roof

The hostel is a converted village home in the centre of Taghazout. Rooms are laid out below; every bed comes with linen and towels, every room with a window that opens, and the twin and triple rooms with air conditioning. Breakfast, the video review and most evenings happen on the roof terrace.

The rate covers a bed in a shared room, breakfast, lunch and dinner, the daily surf trips with coaching, daily yoga and the airport transfer both ways. A private room is €20 more per person per night; Two Together always has its own room, double or twin. Questions people ask us

Is the Taghazout hostel right for a beginner?

Yes, with one caveat. Beginner lessons happen at Panorama and Hash Point on small days, and at Banana Point in Tamraght, twelve minutes in the van, when the swell picks up. If you would rather walk to your first waves every single day, the Tamraght hostel is the better fit.

How noisy is Taghazout at night?

Livelier than Tamraght, quieter than any city. Cafés close around 23:00 and the village is a working fishing port, so mornings start early. Our hostel has quiet hours from 23:00.

Can I walk to Anchor Point?

Yes, it is about twenty-five minutes along the coast road from the hostel, or six in the van. Most guests ride with the coach in the morning and walk back after the session.
