Agadir airport to Tamraght and Taghazout: the transfer, the taxi rank and the bus

Agadir airport to Tamraght is 43 km and 45 to 55 minutes by road; to Taghazout, 50 km and 50 to 60 minutes. Stay at SurfsHUB and you do not need the rest of this article: a driver from the hostel meets your flight at Agadir Al Massira (AGA), at any hour, and the transfer is in every package, both ways. For everyone else, and for the guest who lands late and wants to know what happens, here is the road, the taxi rank, the bus question, the Marrakech option, what to sort before you leave the terminal, and the flights from the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe.

The included transfer: met at arrivals, at any hour, both ways

Every package at both hostels includes the transfer from Agadir Al Massira Airport and back, whatever the time of your flight. After you book, send us your flight number and the pick-up is planned around it; the written confirmation that follows the deposit carries the hostel address and the pick-up plan. On the day, a driver from the hostel is at arrivals when you land, and the van goes straight up the coast. A flight that lands at midnight is met at midnight. On departure day a driver from the hostel takes you back in time for check-in, and both legs are in the price, so do not book a taxi; the packages page lists the transfer with everything else the stay includes. The transfer is one line of the stay total; what a surf camp in Morocco costs shows everything else that total covers, hostel by hostel.

The road: 43 km to Tamraght, 50 km to Taghazout

Agadir Al Massira sits south-east of the city at Temsia, with one terminal divided between domestic and international flights. The airport road, the P1714, joins the N1 and N10 at Ait Melloul, and from there the N1, Morocco's coastal trunk road, runs around the city and north along the Atlantic: through Aourir, the market town everyone calls Banana Village, past Tamraght on its hill above the river mouth, and on to Taghazout. From the terminal it is 43 km and 45 to 55 minutes to our Tamraght hostel, 50 km and 50 to 60 minutes to our Taghazout hostel; we round the times up, never down.

The two hostels are 8 km and fifteen minutes apart on the same road, and once you are here you need no car: the hostel van takes every surf trip and runs between the two hostels. Shared taxis also run along the coast road, paid at the rank; ask the hostel for the going rate. Why we are up this road and not on Agadir's city beach, and which of the two hostels suits which level, is the subject of our surf camp near Agadir; the pages for the Tamraght hostel and the Taghazout hostel describe where the van drops you.

Agadir airport to Tamraght by taxi: the rank outside arrivals

If you are not staying with us, or you arrive a day early, the way to the villages is a grand taxi from the rank outside the arrivals hall. The fare is fixed per car, not per person, and agreed before you get in; it is paid in cash, in dirhams, and small notes help. Late-night rides cost more. The petit taxis, the small metered city cabs, stay inside Agadir and do not serve the terminal, so the run to Tamraght or Taghazout is a grand-taxi job, and a shared grand taxi seats six and leaves when it is full. The fare changes, so ask the hostel for the going rate the week you travel; it is paid at the rank.

Landing after dark changes nothing for a guest, because the driver is there at any hour. For anyone else it is the same rank and a higher late-night fare, so arrange a pick-up before you fly rather than after you land.

By bus: the airport shuttle to the city, then the 32 or 33

No public bus runs from the airport to either village. ALSA's Navette Aerobus links the terminal with the centre of Agadir, the Vallée des Oiseaux hub, in about 50 minutes, with tickets on the bus or at the ALSA desk at the airport. From the city centre, buses 32 and 33 run north along the coast road to Taghazout, through Aourir and past Tamraght, so a bus journey is two buses and a change in the city, with your board bag. One private operator sells seats online on a shared shuttle with a single fixed afternoon departure from the airport to Tamraght and Taghazout, which only helps if your flight lands before it. For a guest the question is moot: the included transfer is door to door, at any hour.

Hire car, and the Marrakech option

Car-hire counters, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and local firms, are in the public part of the terminal, and the road is the one above: the P1714 to Ait Melloul, then the N1 north. A car is useful for Paradise Valley and for Imsouane under your own steam, and otherwise sits outside the hostel, because the surf trips go in our van.

Marrakech Menara (RAK) is the other airport, and for some UK cities the only one with a direct flight. It is 267 km and about three and a half hours by motorway from the Tamraght hostel. The transfer from Marrakech is not included; we arrange it for a supplement if you tell us at booking, and if you arrive by bus or by car instead, tell us your time and the hostel expects you. For a UK flyer the rule is simple: fly to Agadir if your airport has the route, and to Marrakech only if it does not, because three and a half hours in a car at the end of a flight is a surf session lost.

At the airport: cash, a SIM card and the terminal

Two things are worth doing before you walk out of the terminal, and one is worth knowing. Cash first: the rest of your stay is paid in cash on arrival at the hostel, in euros or dirhams, and the exact figure is on your confirmation. There are cash machines and exchange counters in the arrivals area, so draw or change what you need there; card payment is uncommon in Taghazout, and most small businesses there take cash only.

A SIM card second: Orange and inwi have counters in the baggage-reclaim hall, after passport control, and you need your passport to register the card. Both hostels have fibre wifi in the rooms and on the roof, so a SIM is for the beach and the taxi, not the hostel. The thing to know is the terminal itself: one building, a tourist help desk in arrivals with English-speaking staff, no left-luggage office, and the taxi rank outside the door.

Flights to Agadir from the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe

Agadir Al Massira has direct flights from most of the UK, about three and a half hours in the air. These are the direct routes from the UK and Ireland in autumn 2026; some run only in season and routes change, so check with the airline before you book:

Liverpool, Belfast, Heathrow and Southend have no Agadir route and fly to Marrakech instead, which means the three-and-a-half-hour transfer above. The cheapest fares found recently from your country, with a search for your own dates, are in the flights section of the home page.

Direct flights also reach Agadir from much of the rest of Europe. As of September 2026, Germany flies to Agadir from Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Hahn, Düsseldorf, Weeze, Cologne/Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, with Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart in season; Austria from Vienna; Switzerland from Zurich and Geneva; France from Paris-Orly, Paris-CDG, Paris-Beauvais, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Lille, Nice, Montpellier and the Basel EuroAirport, with Brest in season; Belgium from Brussels and Charleroi; the Netherlands from Amsterdam; Spain from Madrid, Barcelona and the Canaries; Italy from Milan Bergamo and Malpensa; Poland from Kraków and Wrocław, with Gdańsk from late October 2026; and the Nordic capitals, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki, mostly in season. A friend joining you from Berlin or Lyon lands at the same terminal, and the hostel driver meets that flight too.

After the airport: Tamraght, Taghazout and the first morning

The van drops you at the hostel; check-in is from 13:00, and if your flight lands outside that, tell us the times and we plan around them. Breakfast is at 09:00 the next morning and the first surf trip leaves after it, once the coach has read the tide table over his coffee.

Tamraght is the quiet village on the hill, where most first weeks happen; our Tamraght travel guide describes the beach, the Tuesday souk and the rooftop evenings. Taghazout is the surf town, with the points on foot and the cafés open until 23:00; our Taghazout travel guide covers the spots and the day trips. When you have your flights, book the stay and send us the flight number.

Questions people ask us

Is there a bus from Agadir airport to Tamraght?

No direct one. ALSA's airport shuttle runs to the centre of Agadir in about 50 minutes, and buses 32 and 33 go from the centre up the coast road past Tamraght to Taghazout, so it is two buses and a change with your bag. Stay with us and the hostel driver meets the flight instead; our surf camp near Agadir explains where the two hostels are.

How do I take a taxi from Agadir airport to Tamraght?

From the grand-taxi rank outside the arrivals hall. The fare is fixed per car, not per person, agreed with the driver before you get in and paid in cash in dirhams, and it is higher late at night; the small metered city taxis do not serve the terminal. Ask the hostel for the going rate the week you travel. For SurfsHUB guests the transfer is included both ways, at any hour, and the packages page lists it with the rest.

What if my flight lands late at night?

The driver meets it. The included transfer runs at any hour, in both directions, so a midnight arrival at Agadir Al Massira is met like any other; send us the flight number after booking and both the pick-up and your check-in are planned around it.

Do I need cash when I land at Agadir?

Yes, enough for the rest of your stay, which is paid in cash on arrival in euros or dirhams, the figure printed on your confirmation. There are cash machines and exchange counters in the arrivals area at Agadir Al Massira, so sort it before you leave the terminal.
